This traditional smoke medicine pipe has been handmade from sand found along canyon river beds in Northern Arizona. Crafted in the traditional Navajo pottery making way, the sand is hand mixed into clay. The shaping of the clay into a pipe is also provided by hand; and the clay pipe is smoothed out with the use of a pebble to prevent cracks.
The clay pipe is then fired by firewood. The firing offers all of the natural coloring you see. This is what causes the different shades of brown and black on the pottery. The pipe is then glazed with Pinon Pine pitch.
The entire process of this pipe's coming to life is pure Earth magick!
From the harvesting of the sand, formation of the clay, fire, Pinon pitch glaze...this vessel is truly unlike any other.
